For the eighth year in a row, comic shops around the country will be participating in Free Comic Book Day. The annual event takes place the first Saturday in May, and it features big comics from many of the top publishers. And of course, just as the name states, copies of those special issues are made available for free on that day (get there early; they often go quickly, a sign of how successful and important this promotion is). It's a great day to spend some time at one of your local shops, too, because many go all out with special events, signings, parties, and more, all coordinated to Free Comic Book Day. Make your plans accordingly!
