Graphic novels are getting another dose of political greatness in the form of John Lewis’s MARCH: Book 2, scheduled for release in early 2015. For those not up to speed on their politics or history, Lewis is the last surviving member of the “Big Six” leaders of the American Civil Rights Movement --- the most famous, of course, being Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

In case you hadn’t heard, the world’s greatest detective and perennial protector of Gotham City is celebrating his 75th year on the page. In honor of this achievement, DC Comics has declared today, July 23rd, to be Batman Day. Just for showing up at a participating comic book store, fans of the Dark Knight will be able to pick up a free copy of Detective Comics #27, the iconic issue that unleashed Bruce Wayne's fearsome alter-ego upon the world, in a stunning re-design by Bryan Hitch, with a retelling by New York Times bestselling author Brad Meltzer.
