Two Important Upcoming Events in NYC

If you happen to be in or near New York City, the next two weekends bring two very noteworthy events you'll want to check out. The first is the annual MoCCA Fest, a brilliant exhibit of creators, talent, exhibitors, afficianados, and more. It's both Saturday and Sunday (11-6 and 10:30-6, respectively). Just a few of the guests lined up this year: Bill Ayers, Kyle Baker, Kim Deitch, Jaime Hernandez, Neil Kleid, Michael Kupperman, Hope Larson, David Mazzucchelli, Frank Miller, Josh Neufeld, Alex Robinson, Dash Shaw, James Sturm, Raina Telgemeier, Gahan Wilson, and Craig Yoe. In addition, Chip Kidd will award the 2010 Klein Award to David Mazzucchelli. MoCCA Fest is one of the best things for comics fans in the city (and so is MoCCA), and it's highly recommended. The second is a Kids and Comics event on April 17 at Books of Wonder, an incredible bookstore for kids here in the city. That event features some top creators who should be very familiar to GNR readers: Francoise Mouly and Art Spiegelman, George O'Connor, Dean Haspiel, Frank Camuso, Geoffrey Hayes, and many others. It runs from noon to 2 p.m. at the store at 18 West 18th St. Check out the links for more info on both and plan to attend if you can.
