BOOM! Studios just sent out a release this week announcing that it's going to start a new imprint called BOOM! Town to focus on "high-quality, lit-oriented comix." The rest of the press release simply said, "We're going to do some cool stuff." I admire and like their brevity.

BOOM! has been a wildly successful and cool publisher since it began in 2005. They take some nice risks while also solidifying their comic base with proven licensing properties. They've got one of the best comics writers around in Mark Waid, who does two incredible superhero-themed books, Irredeemable and Incorruptible (plus dozens of other great writers and artists whom I quite fond of). They've brought about some amazing new comics at a time when the odds were stacked against them. So if they're announcing a new literary imprint (even if they aren't too forthcoming with specific details), I'm excited. I'm looking forward to what they bring about.
