GraphicNovelReporter.com Newsletter

Mid-January 2009

A Few Words from the Editor...
As we send you this second newsletter, we are planning our schedule for New York Comic-Con. As always we\rquote re excited about this event, which is a nice distraction from the gray days of winter. Drop me a note and let me know if you plan to attend. We\rquote d love to catch up with our readers there.

It\rquote s no accident that we\rquote re emailing you on Inauguration Day, a day of change, to alert you to the latest updates to our website. There\rquote s lots of new content, including one title of particular interest today: Michael Crowley and Dan Goldman\rquote s retrospective on the tumultuous year of 2008 that is chronicled in their new book, titled quite simply 08. We\rquote ve got an extensive interview with artist Goldman that we\rquote re pretty excited about sharing. My favorite part about the interview wasn\rquote t the political aspect, although that was interesting, but instead Goldman\rquote s views on web comics and independent artistry. Goldman\rquote s done a lot of innovative work in the field, and those looking to explore some of the inner workings of the format will find a lot to learn about here.

This issue we are adding our first content feature for librarians and educators, which also will be enjoyed by new fans of the format. It\rquote s a Glossary of Manga Terms to help the uninitiated get up to speed. If you are already there, share this with a reader you want to convert to the format! We\rquote re planning future content for this section, but as always, if there\rquote s a resource we can provide, let us know and we\rquote ll see what we can do about adding it to the site for you.

Speaking of feedback, I want to thank many of you for your kind words about our launch last month. Please continue to let us know how we\rquote re doing. I hope you\rquote ll feel free to share your thoughts on the entire site, either by emailing me or using the comments feature on the bottom of every article and review page. Also, although we have tested the site in numerous browsers and platforms, we know that we may not have covered everything. If you have any technical issues with the site, please alert me as well and I will pass your feedback along to the development team.

Check out what\rquote s new below and we\rquote ll be back to you with the next update on January 28th. Thanks\'85and happy reading!

Goldman talks about recreating this potent year, as well as his independent work in the field in a broad-ranging interview.

Plus, if you missed them the first time, don\rquote t forget to check out our conversations with these creators:
