Captain America, who “died” back in 2007, the victim of a sniper’s bullet spray, is set to come back in July. That’s the original Captain America, Steve Rogers, who put on the cowl nearly seven decades ago. It’s always a bit of a gamble when a company like Marvel Comics kills off one of its most seminal characters, and while it’s never all that surprising when the character gets brought back, it’s still a bit of a gamble too. The new Captain America (Bucky) has become popular in his own right too.

The new Captain America Reborn will debut the week of San Diego Comic Con and will continue for five issues. Marvel is keeping mum on how Steve Rogers survived, but the issue will be written by the esteemed Ed Brubaker and drawn by Bryan Hitch.
