Choo-choo! All aboard the Train*Train!
 
Eighteen-year-old Aishi Saruta’s fondest memories are those of countryside scenery on his late father’s train. Over the years, Aishi studied hard so that he could one day become a train operator just like his dad. Finally, his dreams look like they’re coming true. He has been accepted for a job at the Minami-Kitazawa train station in Tokyo. He won’t be operating any trains just yet. First, he has a lot to learn.
 
From the moment he steps foot in the station, Aishi realizes that Minami-Kitazawa is unlike any other. The station is staffed entirely by young, handsome men, a quality that has made the station very popular with the ladies. Aishi learns later that he was only assigned there for his adorable, boyish looks.
 
Life at the station turns out to be quite a bit more glamorous than he first thought. The employees specialize in charming customer service, but they are also extremely skilled at running the station efficiently. If anything, Aishi is starting to wonder if he can cut it there. His voice quivers when making announcements, he can’t memorize fares, and he doesn’t know how to use a computer. Terrified that his career may end before it even begins, Aishi puts his nose to the grindstone in order to impress the supervisor.
 
Train*Train is a sitcom centered on growing up, both in and out of the train station, and finding one’s way in the world. Aishi leads an extremely simple life and is at that relatable transition stage when we venture out into the big world to find our destinies. Train*Train offers a varied cast of quirky characters and situations, making it a lighthearted and fun read.
 
Although Train*Train is classified as a 16+ yaoi manga, it’s probably one of the most tame boys love series (judging by the first volume alone) out there. What makes this 16+? One of the guys admits to being a girl, and another claims that he’s bisexual. That’s about it. There’s nothing inappropriate about this book that would make it unsuitable for someone under sixteen.
